The International Meeting of Didactics of Logic (EIDL) and the International Symposium for Research in Logic and Argumentation (SIILA) constitute two Mexican events of international scope whose main objective is to disseminate the teaching, research and dissemination of logic in various universities with high quality standards. In 1996, from a collegiate work among different professors-researchers, mainly from the Institute of Philosophical Research, UNAM, the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, UNAM, the Faculty of Philosophy of the Veracruz University, and the National Preparatory School, UNAM, the logic didactics workshop emerges. This workshop becomes the direct antecedent of the EIDL and SIila. In the year of 1998, the first edition of the Didactic Meeting of Logic is held, and it will be until 2003 when the Mexican Academy of Logic, A.C. becoming the main organizer of these academic events. The Mexican Academy of Logic, A.C. It is a non -profit civil association. This association represents the main national institution with international impact that is responsible for promoting exchange, teaching, research and dissemination of logic in Mexico and abroad. The main events organized by this academy are currently the logic didactics workshop, the International Meeting of Didactics of Logic, the International Logic Olympiad (founded in 2004), the International Symposium on Research in Logic and Argumentation (founded in 2011). The EIDL and the SIILA are carried out annually within the framework of the same event. Since 2015 the Mexican Academy of Logic A.C., and the Mexican Cultural Center (MCC), the United Kingdom, are working together in the national and international dissemination of AML events, creating academic and diplomatic links between Mexico and the United Kingdom. The contributions considered for the EIDL are: presentation of computer or computational programs to learn logic; Presentation of teaching materials; Presentation of study plans for logic courses (Syllabi); Research on formal logic didactics methodology; Research on informal logic didactics; critical thinking; argumentation and rhetoric; Research on philosophy of logic didactics; Research on logic for computing, law, linguistics, mathematics and philosophy. For its part, the research issues considered for SIILA are: formal and informal logic; critical thinking and argument; reasoning and computability; philosophy of logic; Mathematical modeling.
This year the meeting premieres a new participation format: work tables and discussion. In these tables the type of contributions and research issues considered for the EIDL and the SIila are incorporated, respectively -which have been pointed out -, paying special attention to the genuine exchange of ideas between the different interlocutors. The EIDL-SIILA 2018 edition is organized in collaboration with the Jefferson International University, The Mexican Cultural Center (MCC-Rio Unido), Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation, Center for Research and Teaching of Mathematics, Federal Urban Normal School J. Jesús Flores, Educational Multiversity, Ceuma University and the Program for the Strengthening of Educational Quality of the Secretary of Public Education.
